Program Changes
For 2009 program changes or points of emphasis see the screened sections of the 2009 ASA/USA-MSF Junior Olympic Guide.
JO Softball Calendar
Please take a moment and view the 2009 ASA*USA-MSF JO Softball Calendar of Events. You should note there are a number of new events and date changes, so please carefully review. As the schedule indicates, state tournaments are scheduled for Friday through Sunday. Teams should be prepared to play a Friday evening game.
A reminder the 2009 JO Guide and Sanction Schedule Book will be available from your league director after April 5. The book will contain all weekend invitational tournaments sanctioned prior to March 10 and promises to contain more tournaments than ever, so please contact your league director in April.
Junior Olympic FP Program Committee
The ASA*USA-MSF Junior Olympic FP Committee meets three times a year and considers program eligibility and rule changes. Each member league and association in good standing receives one vote at the JOFP Committee meeting. Additional votes are assigned based on the number of teams each association sends to ASA*USA-MSF summer state tournaments.
Eligibility rule changes are voted on at the December meeting only. All program, eligibility and rule change proposals must be ratified by the MSF Board of Directors.
A Special Note to Coaches, League Directors and Softball Enthusiasts:
On behalf of the Amateur Softball Association * USA Softball-Minnesota Sports Federation (ASA*USA-MSF) board of directors and staff, thank you for your past and continuing support of the fastest growing and most diverse softball organization in the state of Minnesota.
ASA*USA Softball is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) as the governing body for softball in the United States. The MSF is the local affiliate of the ASA.
The ASA*USA-MSF membership provides you with many benefits in the softball world. Coaches schools, player schools, umpire training, video and publication resources, central clearinghouse for softball information, tournament competition and much, much more.
An additional benefit to the ASA*USA-MSF program, includes the opportunity to be in consideration for Team USA in future Olympic competition.
Participants who play in the ASA*USA-MSF program guarantee their amateur status and expose themselves to future opportunities in amateur athletics. Many college scouts and coaches attend ASA*USA-MSF sponsored events to recruit student athletes for scholarships to their post-secondary schools.
The ASA*USA-MSF's goal is to provide drug free sports opportunities to the youth softball players in the state of Minnesota. The Junior Olympic program emphasizes fun, appropriate behavior in sports and camaraderie.
The ASA*USA-MSF is striving to provide you with the best program possible. If we can be of assistance to you, please contact us.
We wish you the best during the 2009 season!
